The North Topsail Beach Board of Alderman has scheduled a special meeting for Thursday May 7, at 630 pm. As we went to Press the Town also called for an emergency meeting for May 6th. We will cover the outcome of it when it is known.
Discussion of the ban on Weekly Rentals due to Covid-19 will occur. A decision likely will be made as to extending or removing the ban that is scheduled to expire May 8.
Also on the agenda is a review of candidates to fill a vacant seat on the Board of Alderman. The vacancy was created after the election when one of the candidates who was voted into a seat, declined to take it. George Canady, Deborah Coltrane, Rebecca Dickson, Kyle Glassman, Richard Grant, Chasity Menner, Susan Meyer, Robert Swantek, and Joseph Peterson, have submitted applications for the vacant seat.
Reviews of a study the Town contracted out on employee pay and procedure will also be presented at the meeting along with suggestions.
Updates on the Town’s many beach nourishment projects will be given in the Managers report. The formation of a “Beach Inlet Sound” committee is also slated. The Alderman wish to form this to allow more citizen involvement for future advisory.
The BOA will also be receiving property during the meeting. A land owner has decided to donate a beach front lot to the Town.
Lastly, Paid parking will be reviewed as the contract to renew the 4×4 area is on the table. Proposals to turn many of the Town owned lots into paid parking are also included on the agenda for review.
